1913 - 2012 Obituary Condolences

A memorial graveside service will be held for Cedell Collins Miser, 99 of Chico, on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Cedell passed away on April 1, 2012 in Chico.

He was born March 21, 1913 in Panama, OK to Elmer and Rosa Miser. He was the third of eight children. Cedell helped his family on the farm until they migrated to California during the Dust Bowl era. He met and married his true love, Althea I. Widman, who preceded him in death in 2008. Their marriage lasted 72 years.

Cedell is survived by two daughters, Luana (Don) Pride of Chico, Lori (Jeff) Powell of Napa; two granddaughters, Shauna (Mark) Mattis of Manhattan Beach and Tonya (Richard) Powell of Chico; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Collin and Billy Mattis and Brendon, Hailee and Zoey Powell. Cedell is also survived by his brother, E.J. "Jack" Miser of Port Hueneme.

Cedell had a full and successful life despite an injury received while in the military. He put in 20 years with the City of Glendale as an electrician, during which time he joined the Navy and served from 1941 to 1945. He became a real estate broker and served as President of the Glendale Board of Realtors in 1961 and President of the Glendale Optimists. He is a 65 year member of the American Legion. Cedell moved to Paradise in the 1970's and continued his real estate career there until his retirement. He has been a Chico resident for the past 14 years.

He loved his family, fishing, horses and dogs and will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
