Being part of the "Greatest Generation", she spent her teen years during the Depression and her early 20's during WWII. In 1939, she married Kenneth Harris, her husband of 50 years and raised 4 daughters. Moving from San Gabriel, CA. to Palermo in 1947, she became an active part of the com-munity. With a friend she started the Palermo PTA, and was instru-mental in getting school busing and hot lunches. Always busy raising a family, she also worked as a spot welder on airplane wings during the war, and later as a car hop, a waitress, a teacher's aide and was Palermo School's secre-tary for many years. After retiring, she and Ken traveled with their 5th wheel throughout the U.S. and Canada visiting most to the Thousand Trail's Parks. She enjoyed playing pinochle and cribbage with friends and family, going to bingo, quilting and crocheting. Her parents, a brother and sister, her husband and 1 grandson pre-ceded her in death. She is survived by her 4 daughters and 3 sons-in-law: Kathleen (Harold) von Bargen, Diane (Stan) Avrit, Janice Buckley, Joy (Phil) Peters; 11 grand-children, 26 great grand-children and 3 great great grandchildren.
