CHARLOTTE VIERGEVER Charlotte Ludmilla Viergever passed away peacefully in Chico, CA on Jan. 6, 2017 following complications from pneumonia. She was born in Vienna, Austria on Jan. 20, 1920 to William and Mary Gross. Her family came to the United States in 1924 and settled in Des Plaines, Ill., where she grew up during the Great Depression and went to school. She and a friend moved to Tampa, Florida during World War II, where she met her husband Richard, a Lieutenant in the Army Signal Corps. They were married in June 1943. Upon Richards return from the war, they lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Lodi, South San Francisco, and Sunnyvale California. They moved to Chico in 1982. Charlotte is survived by her sister, Wilma, 2 daughters, Sue Marks (Mike) of Chico, and Janet Deadmond (Butch) of Forest Ranch, 4 grandchildren, Jeff Marks, Darren Marks, Greg Howell, Melissa Miller, and 8 great -grandchildren. She was active in Girl Scouting in Lodi and South San Francisco, a past president of the Chico Newcomers Club and an avid and very skilled bridge player. She was able to travel the world, first with her husband and later with her daughters. She frequently said "I've lived a long good life". A celebration of Life will be Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2:00 pm, at the Canyon Oaks Country Club in Chico. Memorial Donations may be made to Enloe Foundation CCC Fund or the Salvation Army.
