Cindy Boss Lyssy lost her battle with Lou Gehrig's disease on December 22, 2008. Cindy was born September 6, 1931 and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. She played high school tennis in Ft. Worth and collegiate tennis at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas where she also was a tennis instructor. She married Chester Lyssy and lived in Florence, Italy and Salzburg, Austria during her husband's tour of duty in the Army. Returning to the U.S., she was a high school teacher in John Day, Oregon and Cedarville, California before settling in Oroville for the last 48 years. Cindy loved art and painting, and attended Chico State University as an art history major. She was active in the Chico Art Center and was a former president of the Oroville Art League. She also loved music, playing the piano and guitar, playing backgammon, working out in the gym, going to Reno with friends, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Chet of Oroville; her daughter, Lauren Haase of Carmel Valley; her son, Layne Lyssy of Sonoma; her sister, Bonita York of Conroe, Texas; and grandchildren, Devin Andrews-Lyssy, Tasha Haase, and Eric Haase.
