Cleo Mary Long Martin Obituary

Cleo Mary Long Martin, 94, passed away in Chico, CA, August 14, 2010, at Prestige Assisted Living of causes incident to age. She was born February 21, 1916 in Provo, UT to Ernest and Esther Crowther Long. After graduating from Provo High School, Cleo moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she attended and graduated from Latter Day Saints School of Nursing in 1937 with her RN degree. Cleo married James Paxman Martin September 15, 1937 in Salt Lake City, UT. In 1945 they moved to Riverside, CA after six years in New Brunswick, NJ, and two years in Moscow, ID. They came to Chico, CA in 1989.

Cleo practiced nursing in New Brunswick, NJ and Riverside, CA. Her life was rich with family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bridge, creating crafts, flower arranging, book clubs, church and community activities. She counted her travels all over the world with her husband as one of the highlights of her life. Cleo and James celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Riverside before moving to Chico, CA.

Cleo is survived by two daughters, Karen (Don) McCoun, Salt Lake City, UT, Janet Burk, Chico, CA; one brother, Richard C. (Joyce) Long, Orem, UT; 8 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; one brother, Jesse E. Long; and son-in-law, Frank Burk.

Her daughters want to thank the staff at Prestige Assisted Living and Enloe Hospice Care for the many considerations and kindnesses shown to their mother.

Private Memorial Services will be held in Utah.
