Obituary Condolences

Our beloved Darlene Kay Bishop, passed away with peace and grace in her home on Sunday, May 3, 2009. She was surrounded by family who loved her. She was born on December 22, 1959, and lived her childhood in Amador County, CA.

She attended Chico State University for her BA in education, and acquired her teaching credential at Sacramento State University. Darlene was a resident of Chico for 20 years. She was delighted to have the privilege of being a second grade teacher at Murdock Elementary School in Willows, CA for the past 18 years. Her students were always dear to her, and she had a special place in her heart for all of them. The greatest joy in her life was raising her dearly loved son, Andy. She had many friends and family members who loved her, and free time was easily consumed spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, dining, gardening, cooking, tending to her home and walks in Bidwell Park. Her constant thoughtful ways and quick wit made her easy to love. We will miss her very much, but she will forever live in our hearts.

She is survived by her beloved son, Andy Bishop of San Diego/Chico; her parents, Don and Flo Martin of Pine Grove, CA; her sisters, Diane Steffy and Doni Carter of Chico; and the love of her life, Robert Stornetta of Chico. She leaves behind a niece and three nephews that all adored her.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. Nicolas' Episcopal Church in Paradise CA. Contact Newton Bracewill Chico Funeral Home for further information regarding a Celebration of Life gathering and memorial donations.
