Dorothy Winified Boller Obituary
DOROTHY WINIFRED BOLLER Dorothy Winifred Boller passed away peacefully at home as she had hoped to on Friday, August 11, 2017 in the presence of her family and long-term caregiver following a brief hospitalization at Enloe Hospital for a stroke. Dorothy was the only child of Frederick and Ella Mae Jackson Ruhser and was born February 2, 1924 in San Francisco and a lifelong Californian. Her father was a pharmacist who operated pharmacies in Jackson, Berkeley, and finally Weaverville until his death in 1930. She graduated from Shasta Union High School in 1942, married her first husband, Adolph Aguiar, and moved first to Vallejo then separately to San Francisco. She moved to Chico during WWII with her son, David Aguiar, to be closer to her mother, who resided in Chico until her death. In Chico, she met and married James C. Boller in 1947. "Jim" and his twin brother Robert operated Boller Bros Sheetmetal in Gridley. In 1954, Dorothy and Jim returned to Chico and operated Chico Sewing Machine Mart on Mangrove Ave. Together they had twin boys, James C. Boller, Jr. and Frank G. Boller. Dorothy and Jim were happily married and both Christians who were raised in the church but came to the Lord later in life. They were members of Grace Community Church, which remained Dorothy's church home. She was active in Sunday school, lay Bible study, and a supporter of her church. She was a pianist, accomplished painter, gardener, seamstress, baker, cook, and avid reader. She loved watching birds. She adored cats. Dorothy was a loving, thoughtful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a once lovely hand who wrote treasured letters and cards to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and sons, Frank Boller and David Aguiar. She is survived by her son, Jim of Los Angeles; grandchildren David Aguiar and Jennifer Aguiar of Chico, and Dan Aguiar and Amy Aguiar of Paradise, Rachel Boller and her husband Dr. Ryan Berman of San Leandro, and Charles Boller of Los Angeles; great-grandchildren Shannon and Penelope Aguiar of Chico, and Olive Berman of San Leandro.
