ED GAGON

Edwin Bruce (Ed) Gagon, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in Chico, CA just 5 days after his 85th birthday.

He was born July 18, 1923 in Roosevelt, Utah, the son of William and Albie Gagon. He attended public schools there and in Mojave, CA. After graduating from High School in Lancaster, CA, he went to work for Douglas Aircraft Co., in Santa Monica, CA.

Soon after WWII started (1942), he enlisted in the Army Signal Corp and became a Radar repairman. He was with some of the first American Ground troops to land in England, and trained with the Royal Air Force. He later landed on Utah Beach and followed the action until the war ended in 1945 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After the War, he served a mission for the LDS Church in CA and Arizona, then attended Brigham Young University. Later on he was employed by the Department of Motor Vehicles and became the Operations Officer at the Chico DMV office, until he retired in 1986.

He married Beth Harper, November 1, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He has been active in the LDS Church, Cub Scouts, Chico Blood Source, and other volunteer work. After his retirement, he and his wife, Beth served missions in Santa Rosa, CA and at the Chico Bishop's Storehouse.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; two sons, Roger Glenn Gagon and his wife, LeeAnn of American Fork, Utah, and Charles Scott Gagon and his wife, Nancy of Chico; one sister, Flora Garff of Santee, CA, and by five granchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Amber of Chico, and Kelli and Brianna of American Fork, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; three sisters; and six brothers.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, 2430 Mariposa Avenue, Chico. Interment will be in the Valley Vu Cemetery, Malta, Idaho.
