1925 - 2011 Obituary Condolences

1925 - 2011

Eiko Okumura Steenkolk is now at home with the Lord and her beloved husband, Henry, who passed previously. She passed away peacfully in her daughter's home on December 2, 2011, having said her goodbyes to her family and friends.

After coming to America as a young bride of a U.S, Airman, she dedicated her new home to her husband and children. Eiko will always be remembered for her enduring strength, pride and perseverance that saw her through the rigors of life as a military wife. These values have become woven into her children and their families forever.

Eiko Okumura was born May 21, 1925 to Kyutaro and Yoshie Okumura in Matsuma City, Shikoku, Japan.

She leaves behind her son, John (Debbie), and her daughter, Ann Knight (Peter), along with four grandsons, Craig, Jace, Peter, and Drew Knight, plus countless children who called her Grammie. Eiko's true joy was to give of herself to others and shower her friends with the bounty of her garden and her kitchen.

Services will be held at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Orland on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton High School FFA, in care of F.D. Sweet & Sons Mortuary, 825 "A" Street, Orland, CA 95963.
