ELAINE SWEITZER Elaine Eileen Sweitzer, 77, passed away peacefully at her home, Thursday, November 3, 2016, in Chico, CA. Elaine was born November 14, 1938, to Reinhold and Paulena Unterseher Zeiszler, in Yakima, WA, the ninth of ten children. She grew up in Washington and Oregon. She graduated from Eddyville High School, Lincoln County, OR. She worked as a waitress in Sunnyside, WA, where she met and she married her husband Curtis F. Sweitzer in 1958. Their daughter, Teresa, was born in Sunnyside in 1959. In 1961 they moved to California and spent 18 years in Red Bluff where she continued to waitress. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Red Bluff. Elaine and Curtis retired to Walla Walla, WA where they resided 15 years spending their time gardening and walking the beautiful town. Following Curtis' death, Elaine moved to Chico to be close to her family. She joined Redeemer Lutheran Church and spent 17 years studying the Word of God and being His servant, serving the community. She enjoyed her many friends in the congregation and was involved in several activities: LWML, Altar Guild, Mary Martha, Quilters, Church Librar-ians, Dinner Organizers. She loved traveling and was quick to say "Sure, let's go!" She was kind, generous, and full of faith. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Irene Sweitzer Early and son in law Paul Early of Chico, CA; granddaugh-ter Tiffany Rachel Early, San Francisco, CA; and grandson Alexander Curtis Early, San Francisco, CA; brother Peter J. Zeiszler, Inde-pendence, OR. Elaine is also survived and loved by her step family: children, Carol Elaine Sweitzer Heard Daitey (Max Heard), Aberdeen, WA and Michael Curtis Sweitzer, Caldwell, ID; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grand-children. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Curtis F. Sweitzer, 1996. Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday November 11 at 10:00a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 750 Moss Avenue, Chico, CA. Visitation and viewing at 9:00-9:45a.m. at the church. Reception following services in Parish Hall. Committal/burial liturgy will be Tuesday, November 15 at 12:00 at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, College Place, WA.
