Obituary Condolences

Evelyn Louise Mattson was born April 26, 1925 in Richvale, CA to Erick "Arnold" and Ruth Lantz. It was there in Richvale that Evelyn lived her whole life until she went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.

Evelyn was married to the love of her life, Chester Mattson and spent 63 amazing years with him. The joke was always told that Chester married a million dollar baby from a 5 and 10 cents store.

Evelyn worked for a time at McClellan Air Force Base as a Rosie the Riveter, disassembling engine parts. Evelyn was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club in Richvale for a number of years, and a lifetime member of the Richvale Evangelical Free Church.

Though Evelyn never moved from Richvale she and her husband loved to travel to different places. They have made two different trips to Europe, taken four cruises, including two to the Caribbean, one to Mexico and one to Alaska. She also spent many winters in Arizona, and has continued to follow her daughter Pam around the country wherever she was moving.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Ventioner and Mildred Mattson, and her grandson, Matthew Wiest.

She leaves behind her husband Chester, her sister Dorothy Cline of Tulsa, OK, her son Roger Mattson (Phylis) of Rocklin, CA, son Larry Mattson of Richvale, CA (Cheryl), son Bruce Mattson (Jaclyn) of Chico, CA, and her daughter Pamela Wiest (Paul) of Oviedo, FL. She has 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Mon the 14, at the Evangelical Free Church in Richvale. Her viewing is to be held on Sunday the 13th, from 3-5 at Newton Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 1:30pm at Glen Oaks Memorial Park following the church service.

Donations are in care of Newton Bracewell Chico Funeral Home to the Evangelical Free Church memorial fund. To view obituary and send condolences to the family go online to nbcfh.com.
