FRANCES E. KIDD Obituary
FRANCES E. KIDD

Mom was born September 4, 1914 in Franklin, PA and passed away in Chico, CA on February 7, 2010 at the age of 95.

Mom moved to El Segundo, CA as a young child and grew up there. She was a member of the first graduating class of El Segundo High. She attended UCLA and graduated from UC Berkeley.

Mom married our Dad, Don Kidd, New Year's Eve 1938. Dad preceded her in death in 1995.

Mom and Dad lived in Sacramento until WWII when Mom moved back to El Segundo. After WWll they lived in El Segundo until the Korean War when Dad was called back to active duty in the Marine Corp. After the war, we joined Dad in Hawaii for a year before being transferred to North Carolina. After two years in North Carolina, the family moved to Orinda, CA and Dad went back into the sales field working for Curtis Industries until he retired in 1965. Mom became a high school counselor and worked for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District until her retirement in 1966.

After retirement, they split their time between homes in Cameron Park and Kaneohe, Hawaii and for a number of years in Rossmoor in Walnut Creek.

Mom is survived by her long time friend, Earle Downing of San Ramon, CA; her daughter, Gail Hildebrand, and her son, Don Kidd as well as four grandsons, Joe (Amber) Kidd, TJ (Heather) Hildebrand, Charlie Kidd, Johnny (Nell) Hildebrand; four great-granddaughters, Montana Hildebrand, Ellie Kidd, Molly Kidd, Alice Kidd, and one great- grandson, Tyler Hildebrand.

Mom may have been a high school counselor but her real love was traveling. She really was a world traveler. The only place she had not visited was the Antarctic. Europe was her front yard, the Orient her back yard, Australia and New Zeeland were a "kick."

After suffering a small stroke, but wishing to still travel, she bought a Montana 5th wheel and continued to travel with her son and daughter as driver and chief cook and dish washer. She visited 12 Western States and Western Canada.

Mom's last adventure was a two week trip last October to Glacier National Park and then up into Canada to Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper and home.

At her request, there will be no services; however contributions may be made to the Peg Taylor Adult Day Care Center (124 Parmac Rd., Chico, CA 95926).

BON VOYAGE MOM!
