Fred Ray Galbraith Obituary
FRED GALBRAITH Fred Ray Galbraith passed away on May 23, 2018. Fred was born in Willows on March 8, 1956 to Emmett and Betty Galbraith. Fred had to overcome many chall-enges in his life. When he was 9 years old he was on a family outing at Stony Gorge where he was hit by a car. He suffered a traumatic brain injury. He spent months at Stanford Medical Center, and was not expected to live. He did recover, and had to re-learn many things. He was able to return to school. Then as a teenager he was in a car accident and suffered another brain injury. He recovered again, and was able to complete school and earn his High School Diploma. He had the support of his Maternal Grandparents , Fred and Esther Vickery, through-out his life, and shared many memories of them during these past few months. Fred was hard working. He performed any job asked of him, and liked helping others. He was caring, polite, and thoughtful. One of Fred's favorite things was his early morning walk. He had a route that he took knowing where there were places to sit and rest. He would greet many friends along the way. After his cancer diagnosis he continued his walks going a shorter distance until he was unable to do so. He led a courageous battle against his disease. With the help of his brother Rick, and sister-in-law Jackie, niece Tricia and her husband Dave he was able to remain at home. His sister Dawna was instrumental with his medical needs. He also had the caring service of wonderful Hospice workers Stacy, Diane, and Paula. Maddie Coffman came to assist on the final day of his life, and she was also a blessing. The family would also like to thank the Michaud family for making Fred's wish of flying in a helicopter come true. Fred leaves his siblings Rick (Jackie), Randy (Sandy), David (Kelli), and Karen Wilson as well as Stewart (Lynette), Dawna (Vince) Keolauoi. He also leaves his step mom Ann Ellis and step sister Diane Tucker, and Gina Lederer. The family request that any donations go to Enloe Hospice, 1390 E. Lassen Ave. Chico, CA 95973. A Graveside Service will be held for Fred on Friday, June 1 at 11:00am Willows Cemetery. Immediately after the service, a reception will follow at the Fellowship Hall at the Assembly of God's Church. Please do not provide food. May he rest in peace.
