G. Ruth Boles Obituary
RUTH BOLES G. Ruth Boles, 74, went to be with The Lord on August 11, 2016 at her ranch in Durham. Ruth was born on May 7, 1942 to Melvin and Irene Boles at the Montgomery Ranch in Durham, CA. Ruth graduated from Durham High School in 1960, and went on to attend CSU Chico where she received her B.S. in nursing. She began her nursing career in Red Bluff, then working at San Francisco General, before returning to Chico to work as a labor and delivery nurse at Enloe. She taught nursing for a short time in Boston and then studied in Southern California to obtain a Masters in Psychology. Ruth was a trail blazer. She was a talented athlete at CSU Chico in track and field. She was among the first female athletes to receive a Block C for sports in college just a few years ago. Ruth loved the outdoors, working on the ranch and spending time with family and friends. She loved to travel going to the Holy Lands 7 times and biked through 10 countries in 9 weeks in Europe. She was a gifted story teller and had a marvelous sense of humor. She was an avid sports fan in the Durham Community known fondly as the lady who could sell the most dinner tickets around town to raise funds for local students. Ruth was a strong woman of faith. She was passionate about her studies of the bible and sharing the word with others. She is survived by her sister Joan Tilley, brother Jim Boles, nephew Mark Boles and great nephew Matt and niece Melissa. She will be deeply missed by many. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Evangelical Free Church in Chico. Donations in her name can be made to the Durham Volunteer Fire Department, or to the .
