GENEVIEVE MARIE SHACKELFORD

Genevieve Marie Shackelford passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Draper, UT.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1919 in Oroville, CA and lived her childhood in Nelson, CA near Durham, CA on the family farm. Her parents were George Addison Barnes and Georgia Ella Luce. She was the youngest of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. Genevieve married George Fendt in 1938 and had three children. She lived in Colusa, CA for 20 years. In 1958, she married Werner Glauser, who died in 1988. Genevieve later married Harlan Shackelford. Harlan died in 2001. She remained in her home in Thermalito, CA until 2007 when she was taken to Utah for her care. Genevieve worked as a rural mail carrier for many years until retirement in Oroville, CA. She loved her home and garden in Thermalito, CA and would spend long hours in the beautiful flowers. Genevieve also greatly enjoyed traveling in her motorhome visiting family with her last husband Harlan.

Genevieve is survived by a daughter, Jean Ellen Campbell of Kent, Washington and a son, John Edward Fendt of Midway, UT, and her sister, Eleanor Dunning of Gridley, CA. She had 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Grave side Funeral Service for her at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd., Oroville, CA. A Viewing for those wishing to see her will be held from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Scheer Memorial Chapel, 2410 Foothill Blvd, which crosses Olive Highway at the corner. There will be a gathering for mingling and refreshments with family and friends after the graveside service at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Oroville, CA, with the exact location to be announced at the time of the service.
