GWENDOLYN THEESFELD IRLE June 11, 1919 - October 20, 2015 Gwendolyn Theesfeld Irle was born to Irene Cotter Theesfeld and Harm Theesfeld on a farm in Iroquois county Illinois. The family then moved to Crescent City, Illinois. Gwen graduated from Watseka High School and Gilman Business College. She was married in 1941 to the love of her life Henry B. Irle. In 1943 she moved to San Francisco, CA to be closer to Henry during World War II. She worked at Mercury Press, a large printing company in San Francisco as an executive secretary. In 1951 Gwen and Henry moved to Paradise, CA with their son David. Rita and Maureen were born in the next couple of years. In 1954 Henry and Gwen opened Irle's Cars in Chico, CA which was in business for more than 55 years. Gwen had been a member of the Saint Ann's Women's Club at Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Paradise, a 4-H leader, a Democratic Central Committee member and a member of Audubon Society. Gwen loved to dance, attend plays, music concerts and read the newspaper. Her parents and her husband of more than 73 years Henry precede her in death. She is survived by her children David (Diana) Irle, Rita (Al) Perry and Maureen (Chris) Toftner; grandchildren Nicki (Mark) Baumgartner, Nolan Toftner, Dorothy (Jim) Hankenseiskn and Linzy Irle; great-grandchildren Naomi, Jacob, Ruth and Robin. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 11:00 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church, 566 East Lassen Avenue, Chico.
