HELEN VIRGINIA STINGER Helen V. Stinger passed away quietly on Jan. 2, 2016, surrounded by family. She was 87 years old. Helen was born June 1, 1928 in Willows, CA to James Hubbard Placey and Beula Manford Sears. She attended Willows schools, graduating from Willows High School in 1947 and was class valedictorian. Helen attended Dental Nurses School in San Francisco, CA and graduated in Dec. of 1947. She was on the honor roll throughout her training. Shortly thereafter, due to family circumstances, she returned to Willows. Back in Willows, she met Marshall P. Stinger. They married on Sept. 5, 1948. He worked at the First National Bank of Willows and she became a homemaker. They raised three daughters, Virginia, Dorothy, and Elizabeth. Helen became dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses in Grass Valley, CA on Oct. 5, 1957. She was a faithful worshipper of Jehovah for 58 years, and she felt blessed that her daughters and granddaughters all followed her example and dedicated their lives to Jehovah. In the many years she was associated with Jehovahs Witnesses, she acquired many friends, extended sons and daughters in the two congregations she was associated with. Helen's passion was sewing. She loved learning to sew on a variety of different machines and she was an excellent seamstress. She made a lot of her children's clothes and her own. She also did tailoring for other people. She loved to camp and travel, her favorite places were Ft. Bragg and Mendocino. She also had a great sense of humor. She was particularly proud of her two granddaughters, Amy and Kimberley. Helen was a very intelligent, kind and thoughtful person. She was always thinking of others. She was dearly loved by everyone she came into contact with. Helen was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, friend and advisor. We were all so proud of her! Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marshall Stinger, sister Pearl Placey, and brother George Placey. She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Hood (Charlie), Dorothy Combs (Bill), and Elizabeth Stinger, grandchildren Amy McLaughlin (Jim), Kimberley Fowler, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 9th, at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Orland, CA located on County Road HH. Helen had requested no flowers or donations.
