Helena Rogers Obituary
HELENA ROGERS In memory of Helena Rogers (aka: Elizabeth Ann Mullarkey) of Jasper, Georgia who died on October 4th at age 87. Elizabeth Mullarkey, first child of Joseph A. Mullarkey and Ellen Anderson was born June 8, 1926 in Chicago. When she was five years old, her mother died. Her childhood became chaotic as she and her two younger siblings, Joseph and Mary, were shuttled between her father and various relatives during the Great Depression. This experience left her fiercely independent, but quick to care for the underdog, as she 'mothered' her younger siblings. They preceded her in death. In 1945, she met William T. Kaiser where her own parents had met, at the Chicago Aragon Ball Room-it was love at first sight-a dance which lasted over 30 years. During his War World II service in the US Navy, they married, moved to Jacksonville, FL and had six children together. She finished high school 6 months ahead of her daughter to set a good example-school mattered! Later she divorced, changed her name and married W. Wayne Rogers of Marietta, GA. They moved to Jasper, GA and greatly enjoyed their mountain home until Wayne's death in 2008. Helena is survived by: Kathleen E. Kaiser (Cheryl) of Chico, CA, Gregory L. Kaiser (Marda) of Bellingham, WA, Glen W. Kaiser of Jacksonville, FL, Richard J. Kaiser (Ruth) of Fontana CA, Joseph M. Kaiser (Stefan) of Novato, CA and Timothy W. Kaiser of Jasper, GA as well as two nephews David and Patrick Mullarkey, 6 grandchildren, Daryl (Jamie), Grant, Brooke (Brian), Lauren, Todd, Renee, two great-granddaughters, and one great-great grandson. Helena adopted many pets, remembering the Humane Society and Hospice in her final wishes. A great beauty, she has taken her last adventure and will be greatly missed.
