August 31, 1918 - July 15, 2009

Jack A. Schilling, age 90, a long time resident of Paradise, passed away on July 15, 2009 at Paradise Hospice of Cancer. Jack was born on August 31, 1918 in Orofino, ID to Carl and Esther Wise Schilling.

Jack attended schools in both Seattle and Los Angeles and served as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force during WWII.

He was married for 49 years to Verona White and then married Peggy in February 10, 1997. He worked in Arabia for Aramco Corporation for 13 years and operated an avocado ranch in Escondido until he retired to Anacortes, WA. Jack was a member of the Elks #2026-Sirs Ranch #52 for 37 years. His hobbies included a passion for fishing in Alaska and the San Juan Islands. He was also an avid reader, enjoyed boating, gardening and woodworking.

Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy; three step-children, Michael Richards of Fallbrook, CA, James Richards of Nipoma, CA, and Pamela Thompson of Moreno Valley, CA; ten step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Laura Ann Abate; one nephew, Cary Abate; four grandnieces and two grandnephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise Hospice House or . Paradise Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
