JACK MANSON Jack Clayton Manson was born in Chico on March 11, 1926 to Alven and Mona Manson. He was educated in Chico schools, graduating from Chico High in 1944. During his high school days, he met Ruby VanDyke and after their first date he told his folks, "I've met the girl I'm going to marry." One month after graduating he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. In December of 1944, Ruby boarded a train for East St. Louis and they were married on Christmas Eve. Soon after, Jack shipped out and spent thirteen months in British Guyana. Jack and Ruby loved to hunt and fish and also enjoyed working together. Jack was a buyer in the stationery business for twenty six years retiring in 1989. He also lost his beloved Ruby in 1989. Jack leaves behind his two daughters, Cherie (Ruben) Ramirez and Leilani Parma; two grandchildren, Aaron (Christie) McDaniels and Cindy Stryker; and two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Cara. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Private Inurnment will follow. The family wishes to thank Robert, Connie and Bill, Cathi and Rick for all their help, support and love. Memorial Donations may be made to the Butte Humane Society.
