JAMES A. ROSE Obituary

Jim Rose, age 75, was born on July 3, 1934 in San Jose, California to John J. and Antonette Marie Rose. Jim passed away at home with his family by his side on March 8, 2010.

Jim resided in Durham for the past 40 years, having previously resided in Sunnyvale, California. He was employed with Lockheed Missle Systems for 15 years in Mountain View, California and in construction and farming during his later years in the Chico area. He enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips with his brothers, family and friends. The favorite memories are summers at Martin's Beach smelt fishing. His fondest hobby was gold mining/panning, which at one point he held 22 mining claims. Jim's favorite vacation time was spent on many cruises to various destinations with his wife, Gloria, and one memorable trip included both daughters and their families.

Jim is survived by his wife, Gloria Rose; daughter, Brenda Rose Rix (Marc) of Washington, Melanie Rose Fonseca (Allen) of Willows; grandsons, Jeff and Kyle Rix, and Brian and Tyler Pence; great-granddaughter, Kaylee. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Colosi and brothers, John and Mike Rose.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Antonette Rose.

Services are being held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Newton Bracewell Chico Funeral Home (680 Camellia Way) with Jim's nephew, Pastor Corey Rose officiating, with refreshments following at Durham Memorial Hall, 9319 Midway, Durham.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the following organizations: Butte Home Health & Hospice; Durham Community Fund; Durham Volunteer Fire Department; and Enloe Century Project, c/o Newton Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
