JOAN DOLAN Joan Elizabeth Dolan (93 years old) passed away on November 4, 2018 in Paradise, CA. Joan was born July 7, 1925 in Fort Covington, NY to parents Elsie Catherine and Ronald Joseph MacDonald. Joan had two siblings, Ronald MacDonald and Jean Hayzlett, both now deceased. Joan earned a Bachelor of Nursing degree at Syracuse Teachers College in NY in 1945. She then married Joseph Charles Dolan on January 24, 1948 at St. Agnes Church New York City. They knew each other for eight weeks before eloping. Joe "Bud", has been greatly missed by Joan for the last 24 years as they had been married for 46 years. Joseph passed away on March 4, 1994. The Dolan's retired to Paradise, CA in 1986. Joan then moved to Chico, CA after Joseph passed so she could be closer to her children. Joan worked as a registered nurse for 40 years; first in acute hospital care then in Oncology nursing with Wilshire Oncology Medical Group. Joan volunteered as school nurse at St Felicitas and Perpetua Catholic School where her four children attended school. Joan loved her family, friends, and people in general. She loved her church family at St Felicitas and Perpetua, San Marino, CA, St Thomas More, Paradise, CA and Our Divine Savior, Chico, CA. She especially loved her faith group at Our Divine Savior and all of the women in her group. She loved antiques, traveling, and going on camping trips. Bud and Joan took their four children to countless national parks over the years. Joan also enjoyed music such as classics and opera. Joan played the piano, sang, and was considered the life of any party. Joan is survived by four children Joseph Dolan, Jean McNulty (James), Joann Erlendson (Paul) and Jayne Dolan; four grandchildren James McNulty (Jennifer), Allyson Erlendson (Tim Rozborski), Kathleen Scully (Levi), and Emily Erlendson; three great-grandchildren Madelyn and Megan McNulty, and Lucas Rozborski. There will be a Rosary vigil Friday, November 9, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Newton Bracewell Funeral Home in Chico, CA. Her service will be at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church, Chico, CA Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
