JOHN MURGIA John Murgia, age 83, of Chico, California died Monday, January 12, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Born April 1, 1931, in Hanover, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Estanislado and Juana Murgia. John will be remembered for being a dedicated father and loving sibling. He was a very well-known barber for 35 years in Chico, a majority of that time was at Curley's. He enjoyed being with his family, playing softball and was an avid golfer with the SIRS and the Bandits at Bidwell Municipal Golf Course. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Tomasa Murgia; along with three children; David Murgia and Sue Gutierrez of Chico, Larry and Shelley Murgia of Chico; Mark and Jenny Murgia of Eureka; 7 grandchildren, Jon Murgia, Daniel Murgia, Keara Tade, Dustin Murgia, Connor and Tierra Murgia; Colleen Tade and Kevan Murgia. 2 great-grandchildren. Audrey Murgia and Kinsley Murgia; four siblings, Stan and the late Connie Murgia of Chico, Estella and Fidel of Orland; Tina and the late Tony Olvera of Chico; Gloria and Pat Barris of Durham and predeceased by sister Lilia Casillas. and many other loving cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives. Funeral requiem for John Murgia will be held at Saint John's Baptist Church on Saturday January 17th at 10:00am and the graveside services will follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Park, 1115 Midway Chico CA. There will be a viewing at Bidwell Chapel, 341 W. 3rd St. Chico CA. on Friday, January 15th at 5:00pm and Rosary will begin at 7:00pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon Murgia, Daniel Murgia, Keara Tade, Dustin Murgia, Connor Murgia, Colleen Tade and Kevan Murgia. Following the graveside service there will be a celebration of John Murgia life at the Elk's Lodge at 1705 Manzanita Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veteran's Association or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
