Obituary Condolences

John N. Kendall Jr., of Chico, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the age of 86 at his home after a short illness.

"Jack" was born in Long Beach, California, and after being raised in Oxnard, served as Ensign in the Navy in the South Pacific as WWII was winding down. He completed his education in mechanical engineering and graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1946 and soon married Joyce, his sweetheart and wife of 62 years, before settling in San Mateo. Jack retired from U.S. Steel Corporation in 1982 after being employed for 35 years. Jack and Joyce loved to travel, taking their children hiking and camping and driving to destinations throughout the American West, before visiting, on their own, every state in the Union and, also, to other countries. They have spent the last 13 years enjoying the climate and friends of Chico after moving here from Sun City, Arizona.

Jack is survived by his wife, Joyce; his two sons, Richard Kendall of Dennis, Miss. and John Kendall of Santa Barbara, Ca; four grandsons, Jeffery (Sacramento, Ca), Brian (Picayune, Miss.), Samuel and Benjamin (Santa Barbara, Ca.); and three great grandsons, Jackson, Peter, and Oaklon.

Arrangements are by Newton-Bracewell. Future interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Long Beach. No local services are planned.
