John W. Honan Obituary
JOHN W. HONAN On July 29, 2016 our dearly loved son, brother, father and our friend John William Honan fulfilled his greatest desire to be in the presence of the Lord. He was born August 8, 1943 in San Mateo, CA and left us in Oroville, CA. We were given such a gift of his great character, gentle spirit, humor, kindness, friendship, honesty and respect. He was also an outstanding musician that played the guitar and keyboards with passion, absolute joy and loved to share. His many adventures included scuba diving, treasure hunting, and the "Midnight Raiders" trips. He first attended school at Lomita Park, CA and then graduated from Biggs High in Biggs, CA. Later he continued his education as an EMT. After high school John entered the US Navy, stationed at San Diego, CA, and served on the USS Galveston from 1966 to 1970. During his time in the US Navy he met and married Lynda McGill in San Francisco, the mother of his daughters, Debbie Honan and Darlene Yeggy (Doug). After his honorable military service they eventually moved from the Bay Area to the Richvale area and he worked in the rice industry, including the Rice Experiment Station in Richvale, CA and as a volunteer fireman and EMT. John later worked at the Oroville Hospital for 20 years until retirement. John is survived by his parents, Robert Honan (Martie) of Richvale, and June Honan of Richvale, his daughters Debbie Honan of Forest Ranch, Darlene Honan-Yeggy (Doug) of Chico, and grandchildren Jeremy Yeggy and Sydney Yeggy, stepdaughter Denise Stucky (Eric) of Oroville, siblings Janice Grubbs of Oroville, Robert L. Honan of Chico, Gary Honan of Biggs, Judy Jennings (Kevin) of Orangevale, and Robin Smith of Biggs. He will also be missed by his best lifetime friend Bowen Cannoy of Oregon, and Ed Cannoy of Oroville, and many more. Gravesite service celebration will be held August 8 at 10:30 under the gazebo at Memorial Park in Oroville.
