Joseph Edward Greenlee Obituary
JOSEPH EDWARD "ED" GREENLEE Joseph Edward "Ed" Greenlee has passed away of natural causes and went peacefully to be with our Lord and reunite with his mother, Anna, and sisters, Valeria and Cecilia, whom he loved deeply. Born on October 29, 1925 in Yreka, California, Ed was a fun-loving, smart boy who always went by the motto "save your pennies and watch your dollars add themselves". He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 at the age of 17 and began his military service with the 7th Infantry in Europe. Upon returning home, he enrolled at Chico State and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Business. Ed had three passions in life: family, friends and his work. He loved his career with Farmers Insurance from 1951 to 1991 but continued to work with his other businesses ultimately retiring at age 90. He married his college sweetheart Madeline Day on June 7, 1952. He was a supportive and loving husband to Madeline for 65 wonderful years, an incredible father to his children John of Redding, Terry (Dugan) of Redding, and Jim (Cathleen) of Chico; an uncle and mentor to his beloved sisters' children Sarah Ahlston, Susan Taylor, Ken Lange and Deanne Riggs; a funny and inspiring grand-father to his 6 grand-children and a loyal, honest, and true friend to the many that were lucky enough to call him so. We would like to thank the amazing staff at Almond Blossom, especially Kathryn, Lizzette, Maria, Brittney, Sharon, Sabrina and Jorden who made sure that our beloved passed with comfort, love, and dignity. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Brusie Funeral Home. A Mass will be held on Friday, March 16, 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with a reception to follow. If you desire, bring a single favorite flower to create a loving bouquet. Donations can be made to Notre Dame School in honor of Ed at 435 Hazel St. Chico, 95928. Online condolences can be sent to the family at Brusie Funeral Home .
