Juanita Bechhold Obituary
JUANITA BECHHOLD Juanita Kathrine Bechhold came into this world on July 4, 1931 to Frederick and Florence Watson in Compton, CA. Nita grew up during the depression in Los Angeles, CA where shoes were thin and miles were long. Her family settled in Chico, CA when she was 4 years old. During her youth Nita and her sisters would ride horses bareback from Chico to Los Molinos. During one of those rides she met her future husband Roy Bechhold at the Sandy Gulch market on the Esplanade. In 1948, at the age of 17, Nita and Roy ran off to Reno to get married without her father's permission. They had three children; Jerry, Katherine and Scott. Some of Nita's favorite memories were family time at the cabin in Eagle Lake, trips to Lake Almanor and Bucks Lake, and anything she could do in the outdoors. Her hobbies included making beautiful wedding cakes and she was well known for her paintings. Nita was previously deceased by her husband, Roy Bechhold; brothers, Earl "Red" Watson, Fritz Watson and sister, Hazel Thompson. Nita is survived by her three children, Jerry Bechhold, Katherine (Iouri) Ossokine, Scott (Jodi) Bechhold; grandchildren, JR Bechhold, Brandon Brown, Alexandra Reed, Ryan Bechhold, Kylie Bechhold; great-grandchildren, Bailey Brown, Emma Brown, Anastasia Reed; and sisters, Betty Newton-Liden and Fran Shelton-Houghton. Born on the 4th of July, Nita was a true firecracker! In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the in honor of Roy, or the Butte Humane Society in care of Newton-Bracewell. A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
