JUNE LILLIAN BETTENCOURT June Lillian Bettencourt, 99, of Paradise, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Paradise. June had lived on the ridge for over 77 years, having moved here in 1938. June was born on March 23, 1916, in Colfax, Washington, to George and Grace Vindhurst. She worked for Hawkes Pharmacy until 1942, when she went to work for a parachute company working out of the Chico airport. She would later open her own upholstery shop here in Paradise. In June of 1948, she married Joseph T. Bettencourt, and the couple relocated to Red Bluff in 1958 when the Diamond Match Mill moved it operations there. Joe passed away on September 14, 1994. June returned to Paradise in 2004. She loved family, friends, gardening, the outdoors, camping, her independence, and of course, her beloved "San Francisco Giants". She is survived by her sister Joyce (Joe) Wise, sister-in-law Josephine Vindhurst, and nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, together with numerous friends .She will be missed by all who knew her. A viewing will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Paradise Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 5691 Almond St, in Paradise. Funeral services are planned for Monday, October 19, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church located at 6975 Pentz Rd, in Paradise. A graveside service will follow in the Paradise Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside services are concluded.
