Katy Warren Obituary
KATY WARREN Katy Lou Warren, 72, passed away on July 2nd at her home in Durham, CA, where she had lived for 40 years. Katy was an extraordinary woman, who touched the lives of many through her work, her charity, and her healing. Her interests were almost as wide-ranging as her travels, spending significant time in New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean. Katy was born in Texas, grew up in Oregon, but California was her home. Moving to San Francisco when she was 18, Katy spent almost 15 years in the Bay Area before moving to Durham in 1975. Katy's Green Gold Ranch became one of the first Certified Organic Kiwi farms in California, and she later moved on to grow exotic produce like Kiwanos (African Horned Melons). Katy also spent many years as a trusted Real Estate Agent in Butte County. Katy's real calling became natural healing though, and she helped many many people through the years in seeking alternative treatments. Katy travelled extensively to Africa to work with AIDS patients. Katy also helped charter the Womens Microfinace Collective with Chico Soroptomist (an organization she was very active in), which has made a difference in thousands of lives around the world. Katy was married at different times to Wes Malloy of Bakersfield, CA, and to Mike Wacker of Chico, CA, but has been her own woman for the past 35 years. She is survived by her loving daughter Renee Hutchings and son Rand Wacker, as well as her wonderful grandchildren Monique and Isaac Hutchings, and Alana, Miranda, and Kalyan Wacker. A celebration of life is planned for Sunday July 26th 2:00pm, at the Chico CARD Center, 545 Vallombrosa Ave in Chico. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Katy's memory to the Chico Soroptomist Womens Microfinance program, NVCF at 240 Main Street, Chico, CA 95928.
