Keiko Kuroda Herring Obituary

Keiko Kuroda Herring was born September 28, 1928 in Tokyo, Japan, and she died on October 11, 2010 in Chico, CA.

Keiko was working as a secretary at the American Embassy when she met and married the love of her life, Airman Frank C. Herring in 1955. In 1958, after her daughter Dianna was born, the couple came to the U.S. Later, a son and daughter, Richard and Katherine were born in Kansas at Schilling AFB. Then while stationed at Offutt AFB, Keiko worked for Western Electric and was a member of the IBEW. When Frank retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Lompoc, CA. Keiko worked with Frank for Wells Fargo Security at Vandenberg AFB and she retired after 10 years. After Frank passed away in 1995, she moved to Chico, CA.

Keiko is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Iwao and Kuniko Kuroda; daughter, Dianna Boehm of Chico, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Susan Herring of Pacifica CA; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Hayashi of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Jacob Boehm, Jennifer and Julianna Hayashi, Lola and Ruby Goldberg, and numerous nieces and nephews in Japan and Tennessee. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her sister, Mitsuko Kuroda and son-in-law, Leonard Boehm.

Keiko was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the funeral home.
