1934 - 2011 Obituary Condolences

Lavena Jane Esparza, 77 of Oroville, CA, passed away on Jan. 27, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Jan. 2, 1934 in Vera, Oklahoma. She worked in Oroville in the office of the local Farm Bureau, prior to working as office manager for William Gilbert Denistry in Oroville. Her career spanned 40 years.

Of all her interests, Lavena's family was always most important to her. She enjoyed taking pictures of her family and sharing them with others. She was seldom in photos because it was usually her with the camera. Lavena enjoyed being social and helping others and always put other people first. She loved many different sports and enjoyed everything from card games to football. She always supported her family members in sports and was a majorette when she attended South San Francisco High School.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gene Esparza of Oroville; son, Mitch Esparza (Paula) of Chico; daughters, Linda Hunter (Richard) of Hemet, CA and Alana Meline (Randy) of Chico; brothers, Tracy Redman (Margiene) of Yreka, CA and Warren Williams (Ronda) of Copan, OK; sisters, Ida Roesner (Bob) of Redding, CA. Mabel Wilits (Don) of Red Bluff, CA and Phyllis Williams of Mechanicsville, PA; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild, Leanna Harmon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Oroville Golf and Country Club.
