Obituary Condolences

Leah Crowder, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on October 13, 2009. Leah was born March 28, 1928 in Basin, Wyoming to Edgar and Anona (Jones) Aagard.

She was privileged to be born a child of goodly parents on a farm in northeastern Wyoming. She loved the outdoors and liked to help her dad in the fields. She also liked to ride and break horses and live a little on the wild side that way. She was very good in school, but met a charming young man in their Jr. year of high school. They were married on October 21, 1945 and lived in the area for another four years. In that time, Marie and Ed were born. In 1950 the family moved to Los Angeles, CA for a better job. She worked hard on her home and yard and raising her 2 children. They lived in various towns in Southern CA and finally bought a house in Azusa, CA, where they had two more children, Jennifer and James.

When her husband passed away in 1989, she picked up and moved back to Wyoming to care for her mom. There she worked hard to keep up the family farm that she had worked so hard on as a girl. After her mom passed away in 1999 she moved again back to CA, this time to Northern CA and Chico.

She was the most compassionate and loving person you would have ever known. Always thinking of others before herself. She especially loved doing things with and for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What a great example she has been to her family and those around her.

She had many challenges in life and no matter what they were she always faced them with a smile and would say, "Heavenly Father is testing me again." She passed the test.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Crowder; son, James Crowder; sister, Phyllis Christiansen, and parents, Ed and Anona Aagard. She is survived by her daughters, Marie (Bob) Hubbard of Chico, CA, Jennifer (Vic) Santibanez of Rialto, CA; son, Ed (Rosemary) Crowder of San Clemente, CA; grandchildren, Kristin Pujol, Teena Budd, Brett Crowder, Courtney Speron, Kyle Coulombe, Marcus Coulombe, and Adam Coulombe and great- grandchildren, Shelby, Sully, Lindsey, Morgan, Chloe, Sofia, and brother, Shirley Aagard of Burlington, WY and brother, Harold Aagard of Worland, WY.

A funeral service for Leah will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ceres and Lassen, Chico, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Esplanade House and the Breast Cancer Foundation in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes. You may share your thoughts and memories of Leah online at nbcfh.com.
