LEAH MATTISON A memorial service for Leah Ann Mattison will be held at the Evangelical Free Church of Chico at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Leah was born April 22, 1932 on a farm near Scotia, Nebraska, to Jacob and Violet Shell. In 1937 her family moved to Chico, after a short stay in Paradise. She attended Chico Schools and graduated from Chico High in 1950. She attended Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon and Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Leah met her husband Douglas Mattison at Multnomah and they were married January 27, 1952. Chico became their home in 1958. She was employed as a church secretary and Real Estate salesperson. She also worked at Enloe Hospital for 12 years as a Unit Secretary, working mainly in the Neuro Unit and the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Leah enjoyed singing. She sang in a trio as a girl and in the church choir for 45 years. She enjoyed sewing and doing computer graphics. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Chico, where she was active in the Wise Witness Adult Bible Fellowship. She also assisted the office staff in the bookkeeping department, and in office relief. She and her husband spent hours keeping the church bulletin boards attractive and up to date for many years. She is survived by her two daughters, Anna Severin (Michael), of Modesto; Kathy Jones (Bob) from Kenmore, Washington; and her son Ted (Coleen) from Nampa, Idaho, one brother Dick Shell (Lucille) of Lake Almanor and Chico; one sister Vivian Ballard of Manhatten, Kansas; twenty grandchildren and nineteen great -grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
