Lila Mae Sylva Obituary
LILA MAE SYLVA Lila Mae Sylva passed away peacefully on October 8, 2015, in Redwood City, California. She is survived by her children and step-children and their spouses, Lyn and Russell Bergman, Judy and Michael Wasmann, Penny Karthauser, Rick and Deanna Sylva, Susan and Ron Madison, Monte and Sandy Sylva, and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren . She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. "Gene" Sylva, Jr. and her step-son, Eugene F. "Rusty" Sylva III. Lila was born in Springfield, Colorado, on August 10, 1916. She was raised in a rural area called Rattlesnake Buttes along with her sisters and brothers, where she enjoyed riding her horse Annie and spending time working on the ranch. At the age of 18, she moved away from the ranch, to a youthful marriage, two children, and eventually to Oroville, California. There she met the love of her life, Gene Sylva, Jr. After dancing together just once, she knew he was the one. They soon fell in love, combined their families, and began their life together. Lila worked along with Gene in their insurance and accounting business in Oroville throughout their 55 year marriage. Although she had moved away from the ranch, Lila was still always a country girl who loved the simple things in life - her family, her pets and her home. Always beautiful, fashionable, and fun-loving, Lila was happiest when she was cooking, entertaining, and dancing with Gene. Lila's life will be celebrated at a private burial service at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be sent to the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.
