1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
LOY SIBERTS BRALEY Loy Siberts Braley, age 87, born in 1926 in Schenectady, New York, died Sunday, April 20th, 2014 in Chico, California, with his wife by his side, after a long hard struggle with strokes and fractures. Dr. Braley is survived by his second wife Joan, his son Jeff, step-children, Susan and Stephen, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Edith and daughter Lisa, both from breast cancer. After attaining a psychology PhD from the University of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Braley accomplished a long teaching tenure at the University of Santa Barbara and San Jose State University. He and Joan retired to Paradise, California where they built their dream house on the canyon edge. For many years Loy volunteered as an Ombudsman at Heritage Skilled Nursing Facility in Paradise. He continued his lifetime of journeys, traveling throughout the country and world, exploring history, genealogy, ancient man, natural wonders and the mysteries of the human mind. Mostly in warm places of course. Loy was a calm, bearded, good spirited man who used to love to tinker and read, and who instilled in his family an appreciation for the outdoors. He loved his evening gin, an occasional puff on a cigar, and of course, his companion till the end, Joan. We will all deeply miss you Doc B., you were a good soul. Rest in Peace. No memorial services at his wishes. His ashes will be placed with his daughter's. Arrangements entrusted to the Neptune Society of No. CA, Chico Branch. The family would like to offer huge thanks to all his caregivers at Enloe Hospital, and Twin Oak Rehab. You all did so much and brought some of his final smiles to his tired mind. Bless you all!
