LYDIA (MARY) BENNETT Lydia (Mary) Bennett died Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 12, 1926 to Charles and Letitia Blanc. Her parents had immigrated to America from St. Marcel, D'Asota, Italy in the early 1900s. After Lydia's father became ill and died in 1926, the family moved Vina, California. Lydia went to Vina Elementary school, and then graduate in 1944 from Los Molinos High School. After high school, she went to beauty school in Marysville, California. Her first hair styling job was at the White Palace on Main Street in downtown Chico. In 1948, Lydia married Robert R. Bennett. They moved to the Vina family home in 1953, and there she opened her own beauty shop. Ladies and girls from Vina, as well as Red Bluff, Corning and Chico would come to Lydia's Beauty Shop for a good time and excellent hair design. Lydia and Bob loved their Victorian home in Vina, and Lydia would keep it decorated for every holiday, special occasions, and wonderful family gatherings. She was also very involved in the Vina Community activities. After Bob's death in 2011, she moved to the Courtyard in Chico. Lydia Bennett is survived by her son, Robert (Bob), her nieces, Jenice (Hester), Kathleen (Gabriel), Patty (Pluim) and Becky (Tucker) and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the Vina Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 25, 2016. All friends are welcome.
