Mary K. Clewett Obituary
MARY K. CLEWETT With much sadness, we announce that, on February 2, 2018, Mary K. Clewett lost her long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She passed away at home at the age of 79. Mary was born on April 15, 1938, in Los Angeles County to Ross and Regina Eichelberger. The Eichelberger family moved to Paradise, CA, during Mary's grade school years. Mary was in the last Paradise class to attend Chico High School where she met S. Edward Clewett, also of Paradise. They married in April 1958 at the Paradise Catholic Church. After high school, Mary enrolled at Chico State College where she would graduate with a Pre-Nursing Certificate. Mary and Ed lived in Chico where their daughters Annette and Heather were born. In 1965, they moved to Redding, CA, where their son Stan was born 5 years later. Mary worked in Reception for Ophthal-mologist offices both in Chico and Redding. Mary and Ed divorced in 1980. She continued to live in the family home for another 30 years. In the last 7 years of her life, Mary lived in Oak Run, CA with her significant other, Dennis Stoffel. Mary was known for her quick sense of humor, love for pottery, attending weekend art shows, and for being found in the card aisle laughing out-loud with the funny ones in hand. She loved traveling and seeing new things. She always needed to know, and wanted to see, where her children and grandchildren lived, so she could put them in that special place in her heart. Mary loved to be near water. She spent many of her younger years with her parents collecting agates on California beaches. When Mary was not working or traveling, she was in her kitchen practicing one of her great loves, cooking, while singing some of her favorite songs from Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music. Many of the items used in her always-surprising recipes came from her organic garden and orchard. She also had a love for doing puzzles, knitting blankets for her family, and rescuing animals. Mary is survived by her children, Annette, Heather, and Stanley Clewett and her grandchildren Stephanie and Dakota Clewett. Her love leaves us a memory no one can ever steal! To honor Mary's memory, the family recommends a donation to .
