MELBA FERN MILLER Melba Fern Miller, born July 13, 1929 passed away peacefully at home in Chico, California on November 30, 2013. Melba was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon and grew up in Calexico and Auburn, California. She graduated from Placer High School Class of 1947 in Auburn; from San Jose State with a B.A. and from University of Southern California with an M.A. She was a flight attendant with United Airlines from 1951-1957. She taught 6th grade for one year in Tracy, California, two years at Orange High School and ten years at Ukiah High School teaching Art. She owned her own sign business and achieved awards for her art work. She was dedicated to the Stretch and Tone community exercise group along with her partner and leader of the group Jack Beezer. She participated in the Son's of Norway, the Shiners, the Elks, and the Republican Women's Association. She enjoyed the simple things in life including family, friendship and neighbors. She loved to travel. She enjoyed skiing, dancing and walking with friends. She had an appreciation for birds, flowers and nature in general. She loved Easter and Christmas with family. Family was her main focus in life. She enjoyed cooking for those she cared about and was known for her green salads! She joked often with her unique sense of humor. She is preceded by husbands Wallace F. Weigle and Jack Dewey Miller. She is survived by partner Jack Beezer, son Wesley Weigle, daughter Kay Weigle Levine and grandchildren Jeremiah Hiscock McDonald and Gabriel, Orion and Max Weigle Levine. She requested no memorial or donations. She preferred instead that her friends and family carry on and remember her with humor. She will be greatly missed.
