MICHAEL STEVEN COFFRON

Michael Steven Coffron, April 19, 1947 - June 27, 2012, a resident of Chico, California passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Michael was born to Al and Julie Coffron in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Palo Alto with three brothers, graduated from Cubberley High School, served four years in the US Marine Corps, and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Michael lived in the Chico area for the past 24 years. He worked for Child Protective Services in Butte County and Tehama County for 18 years. Following his passion for construction, he pursued real estate development.

Michael was a warm and loving man who was generous, passionate, and always optimistic about life. He loved traveling, good food, museums, theater, classic movies and books, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. His belief in God was an essential part of his life. He is so missed and loved by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his wife of 21 years, Karen Coffron of Chico; his mother, Julie Coffron of Chico; his brothers, Jim Coffron (Katty) of Atascadero, and Wayne Coffron (Marilyn) of Linden, Virginia; uncle, Bill Coffron (Ritva) of Colorado; his children, Tammy Coffron Nurisso (Fred) of Redwood City, Brock Coffron (Lynn) of Stevensville, Montana, Beau Coffron (Linnea) of Fremont, Rob Coffron of Petaluma, Daniel and Alex Coffron of Chico. Michael is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew, Ariana and Bradley Nurisso, Colby and Chase Coffron, Abigail and Zachary Coffron, and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael's father, Al Coffron and brother, John Coffron predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held at Bidwell Presbyterian Church (208 West First Street, downtown Chico) on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
