Nada "Maxine" Iwanski Obituary
NADA "MAXINE" IWANSKI Nada "Maxine" Iwanski, daughter of Joseph and Florence McHaffie, was born March 19, 1928 in Oklahoma and died October 12, 2015 in Chico, California. Raised and educated, along with her three younger sisters, in Joplin, Missouri, Maxine graduated from Joplin High School in 1946 and moved to Chico in 1947. Her first marriage to Don Singleterry blessed her with a daughter, Donna Singleterry and a son, Steve Singleterry. Several years later, she met and married Stan Iwanski. Maxine worked at J. C. Penney from 1947 to 1952 and for Crocker Bank (now Wells Fargo) from 1957 until she retired in 1987. After retirement, she and Stan went on countless trips and cruises until Stan's death in 2000. Maxine also enjoyed working in her yard, in which she took great pride. Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Stan Iwanski; her son, Steve Singleterry; and her sister, Bonnie Whisman. She is survived by her sisters, Naomi Edmonds of Auburn and Sharon Orrick (Jerry) of Galt; daughter, Donna Noblett (Gary); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and devoted companion, Ted Hawkins. A private family service was held earlier. Maxine's family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at the The Inn (The Terraces) for all their kind and loving care.
