Obituary Condolences


Nickolas Jack Krpan, 94, passed away January 9, 2010 peacefully in Oroville, CA. Nick was born April 4, 1915 in Dawson, NM to Jack and Mary Krpan. At age 5, he moved to Walsenburg, CO where he grew up. Nick served in World War II in Germany and Belgium as a Private First Class with the 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division. He came to CA in the late 1940's and belonged to the Labors Union 185 for over 55 years. Nick helped build the Oroville Dam and was a charter member of Men Who Built the Oroville Dam. He retired in 1977. Nick was also a founding member of Oroville Veterans Memorial Park for all of Butte County.

He is survived by sister, Louise Krpan of Tuscon, AZ.; niece, Carol Welborn (Les) of Tuscon; nephews, Charles Ray Sanich and wife of Dallas, TX and Robert Sudar and wife of Richards, TX, as well as many great and great-great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his long time friend, Doris Teague and her family and Stu and Lynn Shaner.

Nick was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Krpan, Mildred Sudar, Mary Fink and Dorthy Zurek.

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Oroville Funeral Home. Burial and services will be in Walsenburg, CO.

Nick: God put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God knew that you were suffering too long in pain. He knew you would never get well on earth again, so God whispered to you: "Peace be with you" and took you home with him.
