OLIVER HIRAM SCHEIDEMAN JR.

Oliver Hiram Scheideman Jr., "Ollie," of Chico, CA, passed away June 7, 2012, at the age of 71 in Lexington, Kentucky while riding his bicycle across country from Virginia to Oregon.

Ollie was born June 3, 1941 in Lodi, CA unto Viola June Scheideman and Dr. Oliver Hiram Scheideman Sr. As a child, Ollie was curious, adventuresome, and an outgoing person. He carried this zest for life with him in no matter what he was doing and had a knack for encouraging others to share in his enthusiasm.

With his drive and entrepreneurial spirit, Ollie started and built a successful dental practice in Yuba City, CA after graduating from Loma Linda University. Dentistry gave Ollie an outlet to help others and it was his compassion for people that led him to lead mission trips around the world, sponsor and mentor children across the globe, and to give back to his community through various charities. Ollie's motto in life was to "Meet the Need" and that he did.

Ollie is survived by his wife, Pamela Scheideman; his son, Jake Scheideman; daughter, Erin Scheideman; step-sons, Adam and Mark Geyer; grandchildren, Amanda Scheideman, Natalie Scheideman, Jaydon Rodriguez, Logan Geyer, Evelyn Geyer, and his sisters, Vonnie Rocke, Robin Hunsinger, and Kelly Scheideman.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Chico Elks Lodge from 6:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. The Elks Lodge is located at: 1705 Manzanita Avenue, Chico, CA (530) 343-1431. All are welcome to attend and share in the life and memory of Oliver Hiram Scheideman.
