1924 - 2011 Obituary Condolences

Pauline was born May 24, 1924 in Chico, CA to Walter L. and Elsie M. (Grigsby) Entler. Pauline married Earl Baragar on January 16, 1943 in Chico. Pauline passed away peacefully with family at her side on January 16, 2011 in Enumclaw, WA. She was 86.

She was a member of the Beulah Rebekah Lodge #60 in Chico, VFW Auxillary #1555 and Past President of the Luncheon Pilot Club of Chico.

Pauline was raised on her family farm in North Chico. She attended Bidwell Grammar School, Chico High School (Class of 1942) and Business College. She worked at Mare Island Navel Shipyard during WWII and later went on to a 30 year career with Pacific Bell.

Pauline started as a phone operator in 1952 and was promoted to Office Supervisor in 1967, Plant Assistant Supervisor in 1972 and Assistant Engineer in 1976. She retired in 1982.

Throughout her phone company days, and well into retirement, she worked on her family's almond ranch, tending not only to the orchards, but the endless amounts of paperwork required to run a small business.

In retirement, she enjoyed traveling to many different areas. She visited Alaska twice, Japan, South America, the lower 48 states and Europe. Her last trip was to the Netherlands to visit the gravesite of her beloved twin brother, Paul Entler killed in WWII.

Pauline was well known for her wonderful homemade pies, peach cobbler and her biscuits and gravy inspired many family members to show up for breakfast! She enjoyed making treats and goodies and always made extra to share with friends.

She was the heart of her family, her loving smile and gentle ways will always be remembered.

She is survived by sons, Robert Baragar (Carol) of Green River, WY, Ernest Baragar (Karen) of Reno, NV; daughters, Virginia "Ginger" McGuire (Michael) of Vallejo, CA, and Merry Honda (Marc) of Enumclaw, WA; brothers, Walter Entler (Carol) of Fontana, CA, and William "Bill" Entler (Barbara) of Medford, OR; eight wonderful grandchildren; and 4 fantastic great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Baragar; twin brother, Paul Entler, and sister Elsie Mae Garner.

Services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. Burial will be at Chico Cemetery with a Celebration of Pauline's Life immediately following at the Chico Women's Club.
