ULIANA

Phyllis Lanore Uliana (Payne), born July 3, 1926 in Neosho, Missouri and passed away on October 10, 2009 at home in Paradise, CA after a long and heroic battle with lung cancer.

She loved living in Paradise, CA and was an active member of the St. Nicholas Episcopal Church and served as a Stevens Ministry volunteer and also a "Red Hat Lady".

Phyllis was a decorative artist for more than 50 years affectionately known as "Granny U" and had some of her Christmas ornaments on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. Phyllis loved life and shared her gusto for it with everyone who knew her. She enjoyed extensive travel and is now on her greatest journey.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Uliana of 21 years. She is survived by her brother, Bill Payne (Dora) of Danville, CA and her five children, Tom McGorty of Gladwin, MI, John McGourty of Vista, CA, Steve McGourty (Debra) of Concord, CA, Robin Ellison (Jim) of Paradise, CA, Phil McGourty (Diane) of Gladwin, MI. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Rose Chapel Mortuary on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Paradise Cemetery.
