Raymond C. Kohl, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2008 in Roseville, California.

Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane. He is survived by his children: Son Dan and his wife Sheri of Yuba City; his daughter Debbie Waterbury and her husband Steve of Pleasant Grove; and his daughter Rayne and her husband John also of Pleasant Grove; He is also survived by two step-daughters, Claudia Nichols of Chico and Connie Evans of Reno, Nevada. He is the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. A sister and brother also survive Raymond, Barbara Jean Smith of Yuba City and Walter Kohl, Jr. of Biggs.

Ray was born on December 24, 1926 in Durham and grew up in Biggs. At age 6, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served from 1943 to 1946, participating in the battles of Tarawa, Kwajalein, and Okinawa.

Ray attended Chico State, earning his MA in Elementary Education Administration. Ray taught at several Northern California Schools and retired as a school principal in Yuba City after 30 years.

Earlier in life he pursued his love of hunting with several very special friends and family. Later, he turned to senior softball. He played with teams from Chico, Sacramento, and the Bay area, participation in five world championships throughout the United States, England, France, Italy and Australia.

Memorial services will be held at Ulrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City, California on Tues, January 22, at 11 a.m.
