Ruth Piercy Obituary
RUTH PIERCY Ruth Piercy died August 31, 2012 in Chico with family by her side. Ruth was born to Samuel L. and Lizzie Sullivan Green March 3, 1916 in Sturgis, Mississippi. As a child her family moved to Missouri where she grew up on a farm. It was here she met Harry Wallace Piercy, a neighboring farm boy. They married December 13, 1933 in East Prairie, Missouri. Their only child Kenneth D. was born on their farm. In 1945 they left the farm and move to California where Wally worked at Mare Island until the final days of World War II. They then moved to Chico in August 1945. Ruth was a true homemaker all of her life. Family was her world and her love was unconditional. We will miss her immensely, and of course, those delicious fruit salads and fruit cobblers that she made for special occasions. Ruth and Wally enjoyed fishing and gardening. They grew everything from black-eyed peas to watermelons in their backyard garden. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Wally in 1997 and a grandchild Michael in 1959. She is survived by her son Kenneth D. Piercy (Gretchen) of Chico; her two grandsons Kenneth S Piercy (Lynda) of Durham and James W. Piercy of Chico; and five great-grandchildren: Erin, Kylee Garrettson (Kevin), K.C., Janice and Jack. She is also survived by her sister Mildred Green Seaton and family of Citrus Heights. A grave side service will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at 1pm at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Online condolences can be set to the family at www.brusiefh.com
