Obituary Condolences

On Saturday, August 15, 2009 an outstandingly warm and loving wife, mother and friend was freed from the confinement, pain and distress that dominated her later years, to find herself enveloped in the loving arms of her creator and savior, safe and secure for eternity.

Thelma G. Mallory was born in San Francisco on August 29, 1925 to parents, Otto and Mary Oettel. Her parents and her siblings, Paul and Angela, preceded her in death. She grew up in San Francisco, where in 1944 she married Jack Mallory who was there studying Dentistry. After WWII, with Jack back from military service in Japan, they moved to Butte County, California where they have resided these past sixty-two years, their homes having been in Paradise and Butte Valley.

Except for office work in San Francisco during the first 3 years of their marriage she has been a fulltime homemaker and all that the name implies.

Surviving Thelma are her loving husband, Jack of Butte Valley; their five children, Barry (Margie) of Cold Springs, CA, Wendy Pruett (Richard) of Butte Valley, CA, Paul (Janet) of Chico, CA, Lori Eckhart (Eric) of Chico, CA and Jill Theriault (Bruce) of Kennebunk, Maine; her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Thelma dedicated her life to her large family and many friends. Her commitment to Jesus Christ was evident in her enthusiastic endeavors to share the good news of His Gospel. Her love of the out of doors was manifest in her eager participation in many family ski and backpack excursions. She was greatly rewarded in seeing the natural beauty around her enhanced by her love of creative gardening.

To say that she will be so greatly missed by those who knew and loved her would be a gross misunderstatment.

Thelma's family will be forever grateful for the loving hands that cared for her the past two and one half years at Riverside Convalescent Hospital and brief stay at Enloe Medical Center.

Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Butte County or World Vision in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. You may share your memories and thoughts online at nbcfh.com.
