After a valiant struggle with breast cancer, Tracy passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 29, 2012, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA, surrounded by loving family, friends and music.

Born December 5, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio to Donald and Normandy (Huss) Gross, Tracy is survived by her husband and soul mate, Jose'; children, Emily and Alex; brother, Thomas (Debra) Gross of Wayne, Ohio, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.

Tracy graduated from Brockport High School, Brockport, NY, attended Mercyhurst College, Erie, PA, and earned her Bachelor's Degree at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. She earned her Masters of Social Work at CSU-Sacramento. Tracy began her career in Social Work at Community Hospital in North Sacramento, and then at Community Hospital in Chico. She then continued at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. Tracy came to Chico in 1994, where she was a valuable member of the Enloe Medical Center Children's Health Center team. Tracy was also an adjunct professor at CSU-Chico, where she taught Grief and Loss classes as well as portions of the graduate social work program. She was actively involved in the Prop 10 Program, working with women in substance abuse recovery, and with their children. Tracy was creative and never gave up efforts to find the right resources to meet a family's needs. She was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer and was involved in many other hospital and community programs. Her legacy will be her dedication to her family, her job and her volunteer work. She was an active member of Our Divine Savior Catholic Church.

The family would like to recognize the thoughtful and compassionate care Tracy received throughout her illness. She considered the entire staff at Enloe to be her extended family.

A Rosary will be held at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 680 Camellia Way, Chico, CA 95926. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, 566 E. Lassen Ave., Chico, CA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Tracy's name to CASA of Butte County, or to Catholic Social Services, in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
