1935 - 2010 Obituary Condolences

Vera was born September 20, 1935 in Verden, Oklahoma to Curtis and Vera Jennings. At an early age, her family moved to Central Valley / Redding, CA, where she was raised. She graduated from Mercy High School in Red Bluff, CA in 1953.

She married William A. Stanley on September 5, 1953. They lived in various places while her husband was in the U.S. Navy, and settled in Chico in 1956. Vera worked as an LVN at Enloe Hospital for many years.

Vera enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and traveling. She and her husband spent their summers camping at Lake Almanor and on yearly family vacations to the Oregon coast. She was a member of the Checkerboard Square Dance Club for many years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Vera is survived by her two daughters, Becky (Bob) Parker and Brenda Langen; two granddaughters, Jessica Parker and Sarah (Landon) Gibson; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Jim) Stroing; two great-grandchildren, Kali and Parker Gibson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be deeply missed by many close friends, including the Horner, McCoach, Brownfield, Barker and Young families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bill; and her son-in-law, Michael Langen.

Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care Vera received at Roses and Ivy Elder Care.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to either the Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of your choice in care of the funeral home.
