WAUNITA ALICE (LORMOR) WALKER

Waunita Walker, a 39 year resident of Chico, died peacefully October 1, 2010, at the age of 95.

She was married 69 years to The Rev. Dr. Carl E. Walker (2004), former pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chico.

Daughters, Leila McGowan and Doris Britschgi; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; her sister, and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, November 5, 2010 at 1 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chico. The Reverend David Vallelunga will preside.

Born February 16, 1915, in Huron, SD to Hugh and Mary Alice Lormor, the family moved to Pomona, CA in 1920. Waunita and Carl met in second grade. Waunita graciously served as Carl's helpmate in ministry in the United Methodist Church. She was an active member and officer of United Methodist Women, P.E.O., and Church Women United. She is remembered for her faith, hospitality, gentle and loving spirit. Waunita gave tirelessly to her family and friends throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Waunita Walker Memorial, Chico Trinity UMC, 285 East Fifth Street, Chico, CA 95928, or to the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship, P.E.O., 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines IA 50312, with "IPS Waunita Walker" noted in the memo line.
